Piotr Glinski said the Ukrainian resistance proved that a willingness to fight was the “most important” factor, and that he doubted if contemporary Europe was ready for such a conflict. He also championed the nation state as best equipped to stand up to aggression, rather than political blocs. His comments follow a renewed push from the French president earlier this month towards the creation of an EU army. He wants Europe to be able to act militarily independently of the US and Nato, arguing the Ukrainian crisis had “changed the era” on the continent.
