After the Future Combat Air System (FCAS) and the Main Ground Battle System (MGCS), Paris and Berlin want to implement another joint armament project. This involves the effect over long distances. "France and Germany, together with partners, will enter into long-term, comprehensive and inclusive cooperation in the field of long-range standoff weapons, which will also go hand in hand with a strengthening of the European defense industrial base with the aim of improving our military capabilities," says the so-called conclusions of the Franco-German Defense and Security Council, which met yesterday in Meseberg.

After the meeting with his French counterpart Sebastien Lecornu at the end of March, Defense Minister Boris Pistorius announced that he would push ahead with the development of so-called deep precision strike missiles. The heads of government had given the order to do so.

PARIS/BERLIN, May 28 (Reuters) - France and Germany's leaders said on Tuesday Ukraine should be allowed to hit military sites inside Russia from which missiles were being fired at Ukrainian territory, but not other targets.
Russian President Vladimir Putin warned the West earlier in the day that NATO members in Europe were playing with fire by proposing to let Ukraine use Western-supplied weapons to strike inside Russia, which he said could trigger a global conflict.

"We support Ukraine and we don't want escalation, that hasn't changed," French President Emmanuel Macron said at a joint news conference with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz in Meseberg, Germany.
"We think we should allow them to neutralise military sites from which missiles are fired, military sites from which Ukraine is attacked, but we shouldn't allow them to hit other targets in Russia and civilian or other military sites in Russia."

The HIS consortium has provided the first release of the cross-sectional AI development platform for the Future Combat Air System (FCAS). This is according to a statement from Helsing, which together with Schönhofer Sales and Engineering (SSE), a wholly owned subsidiary of Rohde & Schwarz, forms the HIS consortium.

According to Helsing, the first release of the AI development platform, also known as the AI backbone, was made available to the first pilot users nine months after the start of the contract (ES&T reported ). The AI backbone is to be used as a software platform for the development of traceable and high-performance AI, which will later be used in the FCAS, according to the company. The platform can ensure standardized procedures and open, interoperable architectures to replace the current highly manual and fragmented processes that contain numerous interfaces. "The AI backbone now creates a standardized path to military AI through a central platform that ensures the data security and sovereignty of each user. In addition, the open architecture and transparent provision of the software development kit offer seamless integration that increases flexibility and efficiency in the entire MLOps workflow," the developers promise.

SSE's CEO said: "The use of AI will be critical to FCAS air superiority. AI accelerates the analysis of sensor data, planning of missions and the deployment of effectors."
