MMA - ( ვრცლად Mixed Martial Arts) ანუ შერეული საბრძოლო ხელოვნება, არის სრული საკონტაქტო ბრძოლა( ჭიდაობა).  ММА-ი აერთიანებს სხვადასხვა საბრძოლო ტექნიკას  და გვაძლევს შესაძლებლობას დავეუფლოთ დახვეწილ საბრძოლო ხელოვნებას. MMA-ში შეგვიძლია გამოვიყენოთ სასურველი ტექნიკა ,როგორც დგომით პოზიციაში ასევე პარტერში (წოლით პოზიციაში). MMA-ის მებრძოლეები ფლობენ მრავალ საბრძოლო ტექნიკას და მათ მეთოდებს, რომლებსაც ისინი იყენებენ ვარჯიშის ან ბრძოლის დროს, მაგალითად: ბოქსის, კიკბოქსინგის, ჯიუ-ჯიტსუს, კარატეს და მუი-ტაის ტექნიკები.

However, during the last couple of years, even at first sight, it becomes clear that the representativeness of Georgian fighters in the UFC is significantly increased and currently there are six Georgians who have a contract with the promotion company: Merab Dvalishvili, Giga Chikadze, Liana Jojua, Roman Dolidze, Ilia Topuria and Guram Kutateladze.

Merab Dvalishvili. 7 fights in the UFC (5 wins and 2 losses). Fighting in the promotion since late 2017. Competing in the bantamweight division, Dvalishvili, despite an unfortunate start in the UFC (two successive losses), managed to find his style of fighting and currently has a streak of five wins (all by unanimous decisions). Merab is enlisted in the Longo-Weidman MMA training camp, where he is training alongside with prominent MMA figures, e.g. Chris Weidman, Al Iaquinta, etc. Currently, Merab is #11 in Tapology’s bantamweight rankings and #12 in the UFC’s bantamweight rankings.

Dvalishvili was supposed to have the next fight on 5 December, however, his opponent (Cody Stamann) pulled out, and later on, his substitute (Raoni Barcelos) was also removed from the fight. Therefore, currently the date of Merab’s next fight is unknown.

Giga Chikadze. 5 fights in the UFC (5 wins and 0 losses). Fighting in the promotion since late 2019. Having a background in kickboxing and Goju-ryu Karate, Chikadze won 2 of his fights in the UFC by split decisions, 2 by unanimous decisions and the last one by TKO (technical knockout), which has also earned him the Performance of the Night award (with a bonus of $50.000). Currently, Chikadze is ranked #27 in Tapology’s featherweight rankings. In November, Jeremy Stephens accepted Chikadze’s callout for a UFC fight in December, however, the fight has not been scheduled yet.

Liana Jojua. 3 fights in the UFC (1 win and 2 losses). Fighting in the promotion since late 2019. Jojua is currently the only Georgian female fighter competing in the UFC. Currently, Jojua is ranked #50 in Tapology’s female flyweight rankings. Unfortunately, after the nose injury, which she got during her last fight at the end of October 2020 (against Miranda Maverick), Jojua would be sidelined for 6 months and, therefore, the date of her next fight is unknown.

Roman Dolidze. 1 fight in the UFC (1 win and 0 losses). Fighting in the promotion since mid-2020. Dolidze made a memorable debut in the UFC winning against Russian Khadis Ibragimov by TKO. Currently, Roman is ranked #39 in Tapology’s light heavyweight rankings. Dolidze’s next fight (against Brazilian John Allan) is scheduled for 5 December 2020.

Ilia Topuria. 1 fight in the UFC (1 win and 0 losses). Fighting in the promotion since late 2020. Topuria made a debut in the UFC by winning against Youssef Zalal by unanimous decision. Born in Germany and fighting out of Spain, Topuria displays Spanish and Georgian flags after his wins. Currently, Ilia is ranked #49 in Tapology’s featherweight rankings (the same division as Chikadze). Topuria’s next fight (against Damon Jackson) is scheduled for 5 December 2020.

Guram Kutateladze. 1 fight in the UFC (1 win and 0 losses). Fighting in the promotion since late 2020. Kutateladze made his debut in the UFC by winning against Polish Mateusz Gamrot by split decision (in the post-fight interview, Guram openly said that he does not agree with this decision). Currently, Kutateladze is ranked #38 in Tapology’s lightweight rankings. The date of Guram’s next fight is currently unknown.
